That not shifting out of first is likely the TV cable being out of adjustment. As for the in and out of O/D, they have a tendency to do that. If I'm running unloaded, I keep O/D off until 55mph. Loaded, it depends on what I'm towing and the terrain.

Not to scare you or anything, but that is how my tranny failure started. It would stay in first (sometimes second) until I would ease off the throttle, than it would shift hard and be OK. It was like that for about 2 or 3 weeks, than was continuously getting stuck in 1st or 2nd, and sometimes would shift, and sometimes not. Needless to say, I got it rebuilt and built right, so no more problems... I hope for your sake it is an adjustment issue. Good luck, and let us know what you find out.

Thanks Jeff that was the first thing that went through my mind when it did it, since dodge trannys have had some problems in the past. I got in it the next morning it it has shifted fine since but i am still doubtful.

. I'm having the same trouble. . Torque convertor lockup kicks in and out on very slight excelleration at around 45 to 50 mph. . This question comes up all the time. . Hard to believe no one really knows how to correct it. . Some people say it is the transducer solenoid in the transmission. . Not expensive, a little messy to replace. . But did not make any differance on mine. . I was then told that the trottle postion switch (T.P.S.) would cause it. . Very expensive part but fairly easy to replace. . Again did not make a bit of difference on mine. .
. . Let me know if you find the answer. .

There is a TSB flash for that TC problem...

Then the alternator is the other cause. The diode pack will lose one diode and create a sinewave noise in the DC power causing weird problems also. So its best to verify the laternator by having it tested.

Bad battery cables or loose connections can do it too.

Could be the TC lockup solenoid as well, however, you don't often hear of them failing. Do you run with O/D turned off?
