53 blocks

Ok i am looking at a 99 2500 quad,5 spd manual but it has a 53 block with 144,00 on it. What domi look for if anything and shouild i insist on finding a truck that doesnt have a 53 block 99's are hard to find without a 53

I wouldnt worry about it...I know of several 99s that are pushing 450-600hp w/ 53 Blocks, i dont think they are as bad as everyone makes them out to be...

I'm sure not all 53's were cast with the same molds and core set. That might make the difference between the ones that do and don't. Some of it could also be core shift during the cast/pour operation.

Agreed,

There are a lot more 53 blocks out there that haven't had problems compared to some that have cracked. If the truck has the many miles already and nothing has happened I wouldn't be worried about it, in my opinion

My 99 had 187,XXX miles and no problems

I have a 53 block & 150K no cracks & it hasnt slowed down my modding at all.
