wandering steering....

Alright gentlemen, I got a bad case of the normal (sloppy)Dodge steering... I have replaced all ball joints and tie rod ends. I see these aftermarket kits to brace the steering box. Do they work, and if they do can anyone recommend a kit?

Thanks , Pat

I have debated getting one my self, that and the track bar, from what I have heard they both can help greatly but personally I have no experience. Honestly for 200 bucks how could you go wrong?

I had the same thing. I put a track bar and gear box on and she drives like new. You add mre tension to the worm gear of the gear box ,but it will wear out faster.

Hmmm... That strange... I've done this to all my older Dodge's (73 Dodge Charger) and it never wore out the gear box yet (336K miles) It the fact of doing properly and not over doing the tension. The other side is most people don't flush the PS fluid at 30K miles so when the debris starts building up there is no filter to strain it out so (BOOM!) Wore out PS gear box...

Interesting, didn't know they needed maintenance that bad.

Maybe that why I had 145K on my odometer and never really had any issues with myu truck... Everything is working good here.

This is why my 1973 Dodge Charger SE is still running today with 336K miles on it and nothing leaks...

Maintenance Interval is listed here...

The brace and 3rd gen trackbar conversion were 2 of the best things I ever did to the truck. Wished I'd done it sooner. World of difference.
