Not to hijack...but also, will the truck be much harder to start in the cold?

My truck wants to be a semi when it grows up...

Truck will be very hard to start in cold without it. for all the headahes it causes, it is not worth the extremly small power increase.

from what I understand, it becomes more beneficial as you get into the high hp numbers (800+hp)...I believe I heard you gain about 15-20hp when your truck gets into that range

very little gains when under 500hp

well I know that the diesel power challenge 08 winner was still running his. You would see a lot more threads about it if it was gaining that much power on big number trucks. It's all now just a sales gimmick to get people to buy it.

I've heard the same thing a gain of roughly 15 HP...

As for me I just disconnect the grid heaters so they don't work during the summer there is no need for them... Once the weather is cold (below 32*F) then I hook them up. I do lots of short driving and this does reduce the recharge time on the batteries.
