01 towing mirrors

So i just sold my 96 powerstroke and lookin at getting a 2001 cummins quad cab long box.It has the smaller mirrors on it and i was just wondering how much work is it to put the bigger towing mirrors on it.Are the hookups anywhere close to the same or is some sort or body work needed?

No its pretty easy. You just have to pop the door panels off and unthread some nuts put in the new mirror and reverse the process. Pretty simple. If you get the new mirrors make sure to get the bracket for the big ones.

At the time the truck was built, electric/heat wasn't available from the factory with the towing mirrors. Required buying 3rd gen mirrors and converting the bases. They are available from aftermarket sellers now. If you have power/heat, you won't lose it. If you want to add power/heat, you could. You'll have to source the switches and wire it yourself, but no biggie.

I just bought a set of these- http://app.infopia.com/Shop/Control/...id/0/SFV/32759

As mentioned, you will need the stiffener brackets for the towing mirrors. Not sure if these will come with them or not, so we'll see.

The above guys comments are right on. I also swapped mine out, and it took less than an hour to do both sides. Very simple and straight forward. There are many vendors who sell them, and the Kool-View brand seems to be the most popular, if not the only one. Shop around a bit, as you will find lower prices if you look hard enough. I sure did.

Good luck.
