i believe that is because the key is well worn and can be pulled out...i used to be able to do it with just one of my keys for my 93 ford...but i couldnt with the other key

You know those guys also might be running turbo timers . Mine stays running until EGT's hit 320 sometimes takes a while.

i have a 97 & the key is tight in the ignition. on my dad's 99 it will slip right out & it has about 100k fewer miles than the 97. maybe when they screwed up & went to the vp pump, they decided to screw up the ignition switch too.

I haven't actually seen this on a dodge before. My brother's old ford, his current ford, and my dad's ford all do it though. In fact, theirs are so worn, that you can just turn the ignition without the key and start the truck.

My 2000 dodge has no issues with this one at all. Neither did my 95. I didn't know it was a common problem.

Garage
My old Mazda B2000 was one that I could use ANY key that would slide in the key hole to start it.
