2001 Ram2500 Power/Performance Mods.

The truck:
2001 dodge Ram2500.

The power plant/Drive train:
24V-5.9L-CTD 235hp n 460tq, automatic trans stage 1 shift kit, 4.10 Gears, and 265/75R16E MTR's.

The Mods done:
4" exhausts system, stage 1 shift kit and over sized trans cooler.

Want to know:
what else can be done for low cost upgrades ? any freebies ? any cheapos ?

Before going to Tuners and bolt on's, which will be coming in due but fundage is low at the moment just did a bunch of work to this 120K mile rig. . .

He dose want to switch up to 19.5's in the future for better tread wear while towing heavy. . .

Friends truck any ideas i'll pass along to him thanks

A better torque converter will really go a long ways. And some Gauges, and a little more air. A BHAF will be a good way to start.

Make sure he gets gauges before he starts playing with any fuel adjustments.

Will do he has been looking at gauges for a few week's now, he got the truck at a steal he traded is 07 SXT 1500HD for it.

his 07' had 50K miles they gave him the 01' 2500 diesel with 120K miles and a check for $3,000, of which he used for upgrading the truck.

he put most the extra fundage into the Transmission, then did the exhaust, now the Cash flow is about used up so he wanted to know what other cheap mods were left to top off what's been done.

Next move is turning up the engine power and the suspension wheels n tires.
He ordered some 245/70R19.5 MTR's in load range H a 16ply tire he wants to know with the extra diameter and weight if he should gear it down 1 set ?

4.10s should be just fine. Only a 33" tire, if the info I found is correct. 66mph @ 1900RPMs.

God, running 4.56's with a diesel is crazy. Maybe if he were running 40" tires. Thats a lot of reduction.

For a Cummins yea its a lot of gear . . . for my 6.5 its about right it like to cruise 2,600-2,800rpm tows best at 2,700-2,900rpm . . .

EDIT:
right now with 4.10's n 265/75R16's he is cruising [email protected], believe he said i'll confirm that . . .

He is not going to be happy with 4.56s. Some programmers de-fuel at 2800RPM. What tires does he plan on running? Lift?

He ordered a set of MTR 245/70R19.5's in a 16ply Load range H, they measure 33.6" x 9.8" mounted on 19.5x7.50 rim. . .

EDIT:
His concern isn't so much the RPM/MPH but the extra rotating mass and weight of the wheels n tires and the loads to be towed. . .

That puts him at roughly 1900RPM at 60mph. It won't be great on gas, but it will still work, and should help if he's towing really heavy. I haven't had much issue towing up to 18.5K with my set up. 33's and 3.54's. But I'm not running 19.5's either.
