I'm not as knowledgeable as most of the guys here about these trucks, but as an IT guy, I can tell you that electronic/computer components pretty much fail for two reasons:

1) Too much heat (out of spec for the part)
2) Bad power (too much/too little/surging/inconsistent)

Barring a secret nuclear test near you that generated an EMP sufficient to cook your chip (kidding), I'd suspect its one or the other of those, or some combination? Check grounds, too. (Had plenty of silly problems with those, myself...)

Anyone who knows these trucks think of anything that could be a cause of those two conditions??

The only time I have seen continual ECM failures is when there was a ground problem, the ECM grounds threw any wrought it can. If you are not doing a test of all ECM pins for proper power and grounds you will do it all again. Normally you will be getting a lot of codes.

Thanks for the info. I`ll have the dealer check all the pins for proper power and grounds. I`ll get a list of the codes as well to share. Any thoughts on the alt. throwing out some weird readings??
