before you buy a new one i'd make sure it's the fuel sensor module first. gauge quit working on my brothers 2000 and the float had broke off the arm. used some pool putty epoxy (leftover from fixing hot tub leak) to attach it back to arm and fuel gauge was back in business. wasn't sure how the epoxy would hold up to diesel, but so far 8 months and counting. good luck!

I posted 411$ from the dealer but that was for the whole fuel basket including sending unit. POS Lee's Auto Ranch in ellington CT put 100psi of shop air through mine and annilihated it. I got a used one from the Junky(what are the chance I found one) for 125$. it's pretty easy. Hardest part is getting those stupid quick release(quick my ***)connecotrs off the fuel tank. rest is easy.

you usually just need the float and you can get that setup from the dealer for 60-75 in that range for one. My 99 had that problem and it's fixed now. my float actually rotted off the arm.

Check your local salvage yard. I was looking for a used tank and picked up the whole unit for 25 dollars.
