overall a p-pump is nice to have, but the work and effort to get it, and get it tuned for just a average everyday go getter is in my opinion not worth it, its by far not a simple easy task, and it takes some time...

now if you want to have a ba puller or drag truck then yes throw a p pump on there...otherwise put a SO pump back on and be happy with the 600hp its capable of

I was under the impression that due to the electronics of the VP44 the end user ie owner could not rebuild a VP44? Mike I would call the injection /diesel shops in your area and see if they have the ability to rebuild it. Though a p-pump 24 valve would be sweet! What is the plan with this truck?

If you had a spare 12v to use for the needed parts laying around, I'd probably P-pump it. But, if you don't, I'd just put a remaned SO VP back on. It is a pretty $$$$$ swap.

If you can get it to milwaukee, go to Huckstorf Diesel. There website is hdiesel.com. They charge 1650 to replace pump and install it. They by far have the best warranty around and really stand behind there work! I have been going there for 7 years and not once been disappionted! It is worth the trip. Almost anything they do is 1/2 the price of a dealer. If you put it in yourself, the rebuilt pump will cost between 1100 and 1300, with no warranty on your labor. With all the hassle, the 300 they charge to remove/install is well worth it. Also, makesure you get rid of the OEM lift pump and get a FASS or airdog. It then should be the last pump you do on the life of the truck, if you don't juice it up to much. In that case you would want a bigger pump anyways!

none

If the truck is going to be built for the mud, then maybe it would be better to have a p-pump just because of the lack of electronics to keep out of the mud. But if you arent lookin for monster hp, the switch isant very cost effective.

1996 CTD ex cab LB, 5 speed 4x4, LUK clutch, 370"s, fully built and bench flowed pump from TRE Diesel, timing at 17*, airdog 150, aem brute force intake pullin air through a schwitzer 65mm charger, and pushin it out a FBD 5 inch exhaust painted flat black, 6 in. MBRP tip

Waitin for install, ARP studs, 4 GSK, and added timing
