01 cummins

what will happen if i unplug my map sensor? will it go in limp mode?

I turned 21
Pretty sure it will throw a code. If it does do anything other than idle, it won't be much because without the ECM getting a signal that there is air, it won't give you fuel.

Drive Train: 13" Valair clutch [email protected], 5 speed, 4x4, 3.55 diffs, on 285/75 R16s

It will throw a code, for no boost (i think)

Its basically like putting a smoke switch on it, you will see smoke, it calls for fuel with no boost...

where would the mapping sensor be located at?

The Manifold Air Pressure (MAP) sensor is on the intake manifold.

I think it might put out a puff just off idle, but it will only give you so much fuel without boost. Then when the boost comes up and the ECM still thinks there is no boost, it will be running lean.

when i first got my truck i unplugged it and all it did was throw a code and absolutly no smoke at all and felt like it was running on three cylinders. if ya want a lil smoke without a chip put a smoke switch in for about 5 bucks if that. but SW's are hard on the computer and is about as good as throwing money out the window but it is nice
