You better build the engine up with the proper stuff before you worry about increasing redline...

But after you've done the major investing to your engine there is...

Basically full rebuild but balance everything that spins.

Basically anything that spins need to be balanced and have tight bearings to keep it from flying apart. If you ever pick up a crank for a Cummins you'd relize there is huge amount of weight spinning around inside the block.

Then all the valve springs have to be beefed up to keep from floating valves into a piston. So while your at it you might as well fire ring or o-ring the head, port and polish, etc...

So when you get right down to it this is a expensive thought just to gain a few extra RPM's...

I am running a 01 with a comp box and I can turn 3K without defueling. You might check into a TST box I think they will let you turn up the redline.

The edge drag comp will add rpm also. There are a lot of people out running stock motors with just hp upgrades running 4k rpm with no issues. I am one of them. but anything more than about 4k and your asking for issues.

01 quad cab 4x4, edge drag comp, 4" exhaust, fass 150, 250 ddps, Jefferson State compounds 683hp so vp 11.91. AMSOIL front to rear. now back to stock 95 fummins in the works

I turn 3300 RPM on a completely stock bottom end and valve train. If I were going to step up to near the 4k mark, I would invest in some better push rods and valve springs. The cam and bottom end should be fine IMO.

With the hot unlock on the juice it should fuel to 3200 and not backdown till 4k. He needs to go in and check his max rpm set point to make sure it's not set to something lower. I have not stacked, or plan on stacking a smarty with my setup because you loose hp and top end with them which in turn gives slower 1/4 times and thats what I do with mine. For what he wants the smarty might help and should give him some bottom end.
