clutch ?

New to me 99 2500 5 spd. It is extremely difficult to downshift into third, lots of grinding. It is also difficult to upshift into third, unless i let the rpms drop way down. Any thoughts on this? Also when the truck has been driven a lot in stop and go traffic the truck bucks when i take off from a dead stop in first. Kind of feels like the clutch is slipping... There is no slipping with my comp box on 5 and wot in 5th.. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!

Bad pilot bearing?
If the pilot bearing is binding up a bit from drying out it will twist the input shaft a bit after the clutch is depress causing the grind issue.

Seperated Clutch and hub
This can happen to... This is what killed my orignal clutch but my problem was in all gears.

Bad syncro?
Since you mention a single gear being hard it could be a wore out syncro.

Trans Fluid incorrect or wrong type?
Bad syncro's could be caused from wrong typer or wore out fluid. NV4500 I know are a Dodge Only Castrol SynTorque Synthetic lube design solely for these trans. I Know AMSOil is compatible but as for other names they are most likely not. I heard that the wrong fluid will actually attack the syncros.
