Full fuel system upgrade, stock turbo?

I found a truck with 100+ injectors, upgraded injector pump and lift pump... Will the stock turbo keep it cool enough when cooling, with or without a programmer? Would a programmer on the right settings help keep it under control? The truck is a 6-speed manual and we plan on using it as our back-up truck for towing loads and there will be some heavy loads... not sure if we'll have to get a bigger turbo or not.

You can make it work and drive by the pyro. I would get a turbo upgrade once I get the cash to do so. a super b would be a good fit for that.

01 quad cab 4x4, edge drag comp, 4" exhaust, fass 150, 250 ddps, Jefferson State compounds 683hp so vp 11.91. AMSOIL front to rear. now back to stock 95 fummins in the works

Exactly the turbo I was thinking... We are definately hooking up gauges quick and if it's too much of a pain, it will get a bigger turbo or smaller injectors!

first i would try it without a programmer and see how it does, what kinda programmer you had in mind? and does the truck have a upgraded clutch?

It's got an upgraded clutch, and a reman block like 2K miles ago, the guy said it's got an oil leak so gotta wait a bit to get it... I was thinking a Smarty, but I don't know much at all about these model cummins, mostly know the later 5.9s and the 6.7s a bit.

I dont much about a smarty but i know if you got a edge juice with attiude, it would help ya quite a bit just bc you can set like a turbo cool down timer and set each level such as fueling and etc. Ive pulled bout 6ton with that 01' Cummins in my sig. it was alright, i didnt really have a problem with EGT's

The turbo cool down timer is definately something I would want! So you can adjust fuel and everything with it? So you could adjust it so it gave it less fuel and made it stay cooler? And the loads we pull are normally at least 20,000 lbs up to 30 and even 35K but might not be towing that heavy with this one usually, it's just a back-up if our other one breaks down or can't take all the loads.

Gotcha, here is the settings on the edge juice with attitude #0 stock #1 fuel milage #2 tow #3 drive #4 race #5 extreme then also you have you pre-boost setting #1 no fuel #2 slight #3 alittle more #4 fuels to mid-range power #5 fuels all the time. Another thing your gonna have to worry about is boost. Get too much boost and your turbo is gonna be a gernade. but you can drill out the wastegate (if its a HX35 turbo) to help control EGT's and boost levels

Alright well a Smarty has got 9 different performance levels from 30-170 (on the newer ones at least), with different torque settings, injection timing, and injection duration on these trucks... The Edge definately sounds like it's got it's advantages (especially the gauges) though too although I almost do prefer a programmer over a plug-in module.

True, also too except the turbo timer you have engine protection like its 10 degrees outside and you put on the engine protection itll deufel until the motor gets up to operating temp. then itll go to the level you had it on. Ive also heard too the juice with attitude aint good with a upgraded turbo just because your using the MAP sensor and the map sensor triggers to the ECU over 40psi of boost.
