Problems with Inifinity audio system

Just purchased this truck. It has the six speaker infinity sound system.
Noticed some distortion on the right front door speaker on bass notes.
Was just going to replace that speaker then today, the drivers door speaker made some loud distortion sounds on the bass notes and then just quick working all together. So now i'm not sure if it is two speakers gone bad or the head unit. Don't want to take it to the dealer for a speaker problem and don't want to spend $210 on a pair of speakers if it is not the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

most the time the distortion sound might be because the material its set in is carrying vibrations... thus making sound itself.... but i doubt a 6x9 can sound that bad....it might be a speaker bout to blow? who nows? do you run with the volume at max alot? if so that could be the problem

Never have the volume turned up high. I don't like loud music. The driver door speaker isn't working at all but this morning it worked with high distortion for a few seconds, then make a loud distortion noise and quit working all together. It make that split second distortion noise again a few more times on my way to work.

Check to see if the plug is loose on the speaker. More than likely the speaker is blown although it could also be that channel is having a problem such as grounding out.

So first check the plug on the speaker to make sure it's plugged in. If it is then find another speaker and see what that sounds like. If the other speaker sounds better then your speaker is blown. If the other speaker sounds the same then you have a problem with that channel. If you do have a problem with that channel check the wires all the way to the head to make sure it's not grounding out somewhere. If it isn't then it's the head unit.

Lots of stuff you can check for free before buying anything.

It seems as though, both speakers are blown. I switched the speaker that doesn't work at all with the one that sounds bad and the problems stayed with the speaker. So, I'm going to order two new ones. $75 each OUCH!
I was told I can't use any other speaker with this system. Anyone want to confirm that?

i really dont see why you cant use any other speaker.... i mean.... a speaker is a speaker.... if you really wanted to... you could mod your door to hold 13'' subwoofers... but anyways... again... a speaker is a speaker and all I can see you having to do is doing a bit of rewiring...

If you don't want to run new wires you can't use any other speakers. Been there, done that..what a huge headache!
