GM will be on the waggon?

GM had shelved the diesel engine project in late 2008 after the global financial crisis forced its Detroit head office to seek a U.S. government bailout
But now it´s plans for Thailand...a production of more than 100.00 vehichles.

The new Thai plant is scheduled to open in 2010, with an engine building capacity of 100,000 engines per year. The engine types will be 2.5L and 2.8L diesel engines to serve the Southeast Asia market, little of which has a need for larger V6 or V8 engines like you'll currently find sitting abandoned in larger trucks and SUVs all over used car lots in the U.S.

It seems like the engines will be smaller than the Duramax 4500..

Three Thai banks have agreed to provide loans for the Thai unit of General Motors to fund its 15-billion-baht diesel engine plant and the expansion of pickup truck production in Rayong.

http://www.bangkokpost.com/business/...om-local-banks

GM's $445-million diesel engine plant has been delayed by about a year from its original schedule because of a lack of financial support from the US parent, which went through bankruptcy last year. GM (Thailand) said earlier that the project should be operational in 2010.

Gm builds engine and produces vehicles in the countries and regions that they sell them. Ford must sell a lot of trucks in Mexico,

From this list here, I'd say Ford sells loads of vehicles all around the world, maybe that's why they are doing so well lately?

And if you go to the bottom of the list it shows you all the factories they have closed, seem to be a lot in the USA, with the red tag. Just a thought!
