Boost questions

Hey guys I'm just wondering what the max boost is that you can run safely without headstuds? I have a buddy that has done 40-43lbs for awhile now.
Also, how is the wastegate controlled and how much boost do they push stock? I have always been under the impression that it is mechanical on dmax.
Thanks

i would be careful with running too much boost, i was only running 30psi when my HG's took a dump, and its a 20+ hour job to replace them
