Tires for street/strip

I guess this is the right spot for this. My stockers are looking pretty bad, and I'm going to upgrade shortly. I'm looking for a good tire for the street/strip/offroad. I know I can't have it all. I do have chains for all fours if needed for back country hunting. I'd like to stay around 265/75 range but I like the looks of a 255/85, and would go that route if they wouldn't hurt preformance any.

Any thoughts?
Rob

Rob whats up , I was considering 255/85 16 at one time but went with 285 instead I liked the extra width 255,s are usually about 9.5 tread width a narrow tire about the same hight as 285 just narower and taller from the rims edge,

Hey cap, how the turbo issue pan out?

I find myself in deep snow from time to time and like a narrow tire just for that purpose. Looks wise I like the 285's better, but think the're to wide for chain use.

true on the chain use, the Cooper discover st that I run are decent tires, they are available in 255/85/16 and are E rated. The turbo is back on and running, I still have been easy on the break in period , yesterday I turned It up to 32 lbs of boost and will leave it there as it seems to be the safe upper end, it sure does make a difference at 32 vs stock!!!

CAP

Where are you measuring your boost as 32 on a stock turbo is pushing it. We tell people 30 psi in the intake manifold for safety and longer life of the turbo. Anything above this and you just asking for trouble out of a stocker.

Rob, look into Nitto Terra Grapplers they make the 265 in D & E ratings.
Good looking tire, great traction & Id imagine they will work good in the snow.
Check out the tire deal in The Parking Lot.
