swaping d-max into a ford

i read the thread below this one about the differences between the four series (lb7 lly lbz & lmm), im a little bit more educated in that department but now i need to ask... if i were to swap a dmax into my 99 ford how do i adapt the wiring harnesses to make one with my truck? most of it is straight forward but i was thinking about how the gauges are going to work and how the starter and fuel pump will turn on, is there a swap book out there somewhere? i think i already know the answer to this question but is one series easier to swap in then another?

Couple ways of doing it, PPE sells a controller that is actually intended for marine use, but will allow 'standalone' operation of the engine.

What trans were you thinking of running? That will also add to the complications.

I think if you've got a pretty complete donor truck, that will help out a lot. As for the gauges, it may be as easy as, well, no it wont, I was thinking you could just hook up signal wires together. I dont think it would be that easy, but having never tried it I dont know.

We did do some preliminary talking with a Ford owner once about swapping in a Dmax, but never come to happen.

Sad as I am to say it, a CR Cummins would be pretty doable, parts are available to install it

Ahh, dont give up yet!! But if you do, do a CR Cummins...please, it would be a mortal sin to put a bowtie in a real truck.

The D-Max would be cool but AutoWorld has perfected the Cummins commins conversion into Fords. The coolest one I've seen that they did was an 06' F-550 that had a 6.slow and is now a 3rd gen Cummins and a NV5600.

Oh...but a D'Max in a Ford would be the cat's meow.

It hasn't been done before...at least to my knowledge...so that alone would make it way cool.

And considering the power they are now getting out of the 6.6L...I think it would be absolute best of both worlds with a 6.6L in a Superduty.

Come'on lottery. If I hit...Eric...you are getting a call.

That's a new idea, do it, its original. PPE (Pacific Performance Engineering)can put a duramax into just about anything, a ford would be easy for them.

2001 Chevy SB/CC Duramax LB7

Garrett GT4088R from PPE, PPE Duel fuelers, PPE Tuning, PPE stage 4 transmission w/suncoast 1056 converter, PPE Lift pump, Fabtech tie rods, Black Eagle alloys.
Engine is apart and in the garage
Goal is to have it done by the end of this summer.
