4" exhuast and Air filter ???'s

Buddy of mine in the Air Force wanted me to ask some questions for him on his Dmax. He is currently in Stan land and the base puters will not let him on the site

1. How easy/hard is it to put an aftermarket 4" exhaust from the turbo back?

2. Does anybody make/know of an aftermarket air filter element similar to the BHAF us Dodge boys use that is available for a Chevy??

Thanks guys

Not sure what year your buddies truck is but a cat back exhaust is very easy to install. If the truck has a cat then replacing the front pipe will help it some more but if it has no cat the replacement of the front section just does not do a whole lot. It only money though, so if he want todo it all that's fine too. Not sure what a BHAF filter is but the stock duramax filter is good to 500 hp with a clean filter in there. I've run low 12's with stock air filter and box.

2 hours max for the exhaust, it's from the front pipe back, not turbo back.
Easiest to make one cut behind the muffler somewhere to remove quickly.

What's a BHAF? Stock filter & swiss cheesing the airbox is the best bang for the buck.

BHAF = Big Honking Air Filter. It is a big round element that the Cummins guys can fit under the hood with the I6 engine.

My buddies truck is an 01 CC DRW 4x4 and he was mainly concerned with getting the pipe from the turbo down, so I can tell him to basically not worry about that part??

He wants a BHAF cuz he looked under the hood of my truck and got filter envy

I will let him know on the stock box mods.

Just tell him to get a cat back and save the money. All 2001 had no cat from the factory. If he can jack the truck up about 2 foot of the ground and remove the lower shock bolt he can slide the old exhaust out whole and the new one in. There are four nuts to remove and a few rubber hangers. Pretty simple.
