there are guys here that can answer his questions. What year is his truck, how much does he want to spend and what "other parts"?

Send him here! If he can descrbe what he would like to use the truck for and the $$ he has available I'm sure we can help him make very informed decisions. The best part about TDG is you can tell the truth about any product you have had experiences with (good or bad) and you will not be censored. They haven't sold out!

no brainer tuner - PPE
one that takes some time to learn - EFI

Garage
What these guys have said, we may not have a huge following like the ford guys here, but we are trying, and the more guys that come and check us out, will more than likely stay and see what else is going on... invite all your buddies to come on here, the more the better

I would recommend PPE like Russ said, plug and play HUGE power, best plug and play tuning for the duramax, however with said power comes huge pain for the Allison, any power adder over 100hp will hurt the Alli, Upgraded clutches, TQ-converter, and Transgo Jr he will be able to take 500-600hp fairly reliably

Is the truck a 2007 Classic or the new body style?

Either way I would recomend doing a built transmission, its just peace of mind. After that tunning, eithe PPE (if he wants simple plug and play) or EFI live (DSP tuning will be released soon for 06+) if he wants unlimited adjustability and on the fly switchable tuning.

With that comes the normal stuff, Lift pump, exhaust, beef up the front end, etc. If he has a new body style LMM I would take the DPF off of it.
