cooling fan issue

i have a 2008 6.4 f250 i drove it for about ten minutes today and the fan came on. sure that its not enough time for the truck to heat up. its not overheating it just the the i started the turck up and notice the trans tem gage went up to half way with in about a min of driving and then when my engine temp gage got to before half mark the fan kept coming on as if the truck was getting hot. any ideas?
