Powerscope mirros/rapid Heat

I was building an F-250 online and realized it didn't give me the powerscoping mirrors but the manual ones? Doesn't seem to make sense that just because it's an F-250 you can't get power mirrors?

Is the Rapid Heat all it's cracked up to be? Worth the 325 bucks?

Also with the F-450, when you get the High Capacity Tow Package, it says upgraded rear axle. Anyone know what kind of upgrade it is? Does this change it to the Axle in the F-550?

2008 Red CCSB 6.4 Auto Lariat.
Stock 20's wrapped in 35x12.50R20 Toyo MT's, 3.73 gears, Nav, Backup Cam, Tailgate step, Upfitters, etc.
Mods: AFE Intake, Line-X, 20% Tint, Clear Bra, Husky Mats, Smoked Recon Mirror markers/3rd brake light, Bushwacker Pocket style flares w/ mud flaps + an aluminum Rapid Hitch (one of the best investments!)
Feel free to PM with any questions about any of my mods.

there are some issues with the build and price thing online - it wouldnt let me build a fx4 with the 20" wheels, but the one i ordered has them. I also have the power mirrors on the 250 i ordered. The rapid cabn heater is definitely worth it if you see a lot of cold weather.

the upgraded axle in the 450 i think is just a limited slip 4.88 gear rear end, but i could be wrong.

You might have to build it as a lariat to get the powerscop mirros.

Depends on your application. Is it extremely cold where you live? Do you have an aversion to feeling cold when you first get in the cab? maybe you have to transport something that requires a warm cab?

When I went to build mine at the dealer, I think it kicked out a different axle code. I saw '06 high capacity & std capacity 550's side by side on the lot and saw no difference in the rear axle. Salesman told me it has a "heavier rear", but I think it might be more cooling or a subtle difference somewhere else. I know the higher GVWR 550 has a doubled frame. It doesn't cost much to add and I think it's worth it if you ever plan to gross over 26K GCWR.

I just looked at an F-450 today that has the High Capacity Towing and it looked like an F-550 axle. This sucker was monsterous. Anyone have any pics of a normal F-450's rear axle?

So the Rapid Heat does warm up the cab fairly quickly? When you're truck is outside and it's 0 you are just trying to stop your butt from freezing to the seat, lol
BTW i was building an F-250 Lariat, so it must just be a quirk in the B&P.

the rapid heat, is a electric coil in the heating duct. when I started a 08 on a cold morning, I had warm air in 10-20 sec of start-up

the 450-550 axle housing are the same with or without HCT gearing goes too 4.88 from 4.30

powerscope tt mirrors are standard on lariat (with 91t tow command)

So there is no true axle upgrade with the 4.88 gears?

I'm not gonna try to overspeak what Randy says, but I'm looking right at the "Trailer Tow Package, High Capacity (535)" (for an F-550) Here's what it says:

Availability:
* Optional on all F-550 Chassis Cabs

Not Available With:
*Ambulance Prep Package

Requires:
*6.4L Powerstroke diesel engine (99R) and 4.88 Limited Slip rear axle (X8L)

Includes:
* Aftermarket trailer brake Wiring Kit (not ordered if ordered w/52B Tow Command Integrated Trailer Brake Controller)
* Increases GCWR on diesel engine w/ manual transmission from 26,000lbs to 28,000 lbs
* Increases GGCWR on diesel engine w/auto transmission from 26,000lbs to 33,000 lbs
* UPGRADED REAR AXLE
* Trailer brake Contoller not included

All older versions used to have a Dana 80 in the F450, and all 550's used to have a Dana 135's.

What I'm thinking is that the 450 and 550 now come with Dana Spicer 110 axles. If you get the 550 with the HCT package, they give you back the Dana 135.

I think that ford might have switched the 450 & 550 to a Dana 110 since it's heavy enough for either truck and decided to reserve the Dana 135 for the HCT package F550 only.

Just an educated guess....

you get the "axle upgrade" with the HCT package, not just b/c you have 4.88's.

I think there's a D110 4.88 and a Dana 135 4.88. the later being the one you get with HCT package.
