08 f-450 4x4 4.30 or 4.88

:bolt Can anyone tell me the top mph on both the 4.30 & 4.88??? I'm thinking about ordering on soon and I'm worried about getting on the freeway and only being able to hit 65.
Thanks Happy St. Patricks Day!!!!:HappyMugs

The F450s and F550s that have 4.88s have an 81 mph speed limit so you should be fine.

True, the 4.88 gear will run 81mph, but that is at 3000RPM.

Unless you are Towing more than 50% of the time, and 15,000-23,000-lbs

Go with the 4:30 LS gears.

Agree 1000%. Wish I would have went with the 4.30's. Instead I am going to have to add a Gear Vendors overdrive.

I agree, 4.30's are probably more practical.

:thanks: Thank you thats what I wanted to know... :thanks: Will the 4.30 do 81mph but not at 3000rpms???? I hope... I really hope that when I get this truck ( 08 F-450 4x4 w/ the 4.30 ) I will never have to hear again how much weight do you haul w/ this truck..... I have a 04 F-350 4x4 6.0 that has been such a pain in the ***...I hired a lemon law lawyer to deal with it. FYI, BBB is a waste of time, or I should say it was a waste of time for me...

Congrats on the new truck! After all this talk about the 4.30 you still get the 4.88. Some people never learn.
