Fitting topper with tailgate step

Be aware that you might have a problem putting a pre-08 topper on an '08 with the tailgate step. Because the bed dimensions are the same most application guides list the topper as the same before and '08. However, I ran into an issue putting my SnugTop on. The bed is fine it's the extra width of the tailgate with the step. It will not let the rear close as the flange on the topper that overhangs the tailgate hits the tailgate step. The window sticks out about 2". I can cut a relief in the lip or I'm sure there will be a new window or flange/lip available to let the rear window close.

Just a heads up and an extra question to ask if you're mounting a topper.

That was one of the first things I thought of when I saw the tail gate step. It overhangs the tail gate, which will make it tricky to put on toppers and 1 piece toneau covers.

THANKS buddy, ill call them today and tell them not to bother with the tailgate (if they were gonna do it), now that you said that, i think the whole thing is plastic anyways.
