what's the dif? f-250 vs f-350

I'm looking at buying a new 08 and was wondering what the difference between the 250 and 350. I was talking to randy a while back and he said the only difference between the 06 f250 and f350 was 800lb extra capacity and badging. does that hold true for the 08's or is there more?

also has anyone heard that it cost more to insure a 350 over a 250 or is that BS ?

:thanks:

I believe the extra capacity is more than 800 LBS. The highest rated F-250 is 10,000 GVWR, if I remember correctly, and the F-350 SRW w/3.73 rear is 11,400. As far as trailer towing, their isn't really any difference in max trailer weights, this is assuming a F-350 SRW. The 350 may have larger brakes, but not sure. As far as insurance is concerned, I have't looked into the cost for a F-250. The Super Duty brochure has all the specs for weights and capacity in it on the last few pages.

The difference used to be 1,100lbs (250's were 8,800 and 350's were 9,900) but that's obviously changed with the newer trucks ('05+)

I don't believe there's any mechanical difference except maybe an overload leaf (although I've seen 250's with overloads too)
It really depends on how you order it, a 250 with snow plow pkg and HD rear suspension could be exactly the same as a 350.

Insurance should be the same, registration may be higher depending on your state's fees.

$600.00 and the springs and payload are the ONLY difference. and oh maybe a rougher ride. I opted for the 250 since I will never carry anything heavy in the truck and i wanted a smoother ride.

Really? On trucks of my vintage it's the same springs available but different hight blocks in the rear. Also my insurance is less with the 250.
