She's here! (pics) & a question...

Well... she's finally here! Black FX4 350 cc/swb. A week ago actually, but I've been busy racking up the miles. Just thought I'd post up some pics. No regens yet (that I've noticed) with almost 700mi on it already. Not one complaint!

This is my first diesel (and superduty) and, and I do have one question that I can't seem to find the answer to. Do I have to idle it for a bit, for the turbo to cool, before turning it off any time other than towing? I drive on the highway at about 65mph and hit a 35mph stop and go section for a few miles before I get where I'm going.

On with the pics...

wow really nice truck !! as far as the turbo cool down I do for see any problem turning it of right away. My 06 after daily driving has 400egt temp when I pull in the drive way I sit for 15 to 30 seconds it at 200 -300egt temp then I shut it off. I also start my 06 about 10min before I ready to go somewhere and I never had any problems yet. congrats on the truck I'll be ordering one from randy soon !!

let it idle for 30-60 seconds before shutting it off to cool down the turbo and let it wind down so it doesnt spin dry (without oil) when you shut it down.

Very nice truck! Looks so much more modern & futuristic than my '07 GMC. The interior is very luxurious looking.

Yes, it's important to let your truck idle for a few minutes before shut down. The reason is because the oil left in the turbocharger can actually be superheated to the point of "coking". The oil turns into a nasty coke-like substance that can trash your turbocharger bearings.

That truck is the sheeot! I love the look of a Clean Black Truck. I also hate the look of a dirty black truck unless it is mud and it is about to get washed. I love the FX4 Grill in black! Congrats on the Sweet Ride.
