Ford 2008 6.4L a joke

Ok I'm not trying to sound biased just because I am a dodge guy. But this last weekend I drove in a New 2008 F550 flat deck with the new 6.4L twin turbo. The rear right hand spring was put on backwards so that the short part of the spring was towards the front and the front tires are cupped sobad they need replaced, due to the truck running down the road dog tracking. Next the thing has a 140L front fuel tank and a 60L rear tank and with nothing on the flat deck the thing averaged 28.5L/100km down the road @ 90km/hr because it wouldn't shift down buy itself. You have to shift the auto like a standard. You get 533km out of 200L or 40 gallons of fuel, not very impressive. Next the truck overheated and it derated the engine to the point where we had to stop and coolant was coming out of the egr cooler. The truck was suppose to get a service body on it for a Finning Cat service field support truck but with all the down time and being in the shop every 1000km for something the Mechanic is losing to much overtime and regular time so they are changing the entire fleet 8 2008 6.4L to the new chev 2 ton trucks. Ford Needs to do something because out of the 8 2008 6.4's Finning has at our shop 6 have been in the shop over 33 times for warranty work. I have all the invoices on computer if anyone would like to see what has all been done. Ford you need to do some more homework here or there diesel market will disappear. Just my 2 cents.:deal:

converted the metric to imperial measurements to make it easier for people in the US...

although 331 miles on 53 gallons is 6.2mpg not 7.5

Wierd that this company has so much problems with all their trucks and the rest of us have none. Maybe you need some new mechanics.

Well, since you started it, poke around this forum and see how many people are having trouble....won't be very many. Nearly everyone that has an 08 loves it, and have had no trouble, except the first reflash, out of them. My grandpa is on his second and has 1200 miles on it with ZERO trouble.

I'm not sure where you're coming up with "You have to shift the auto like a standard" because his is a King Ranch and they have to be an automatic, and with 15000 pounds on a gooseneck trailer, I had no trouble with it downshifting properly loaded, nor did I have any trouble empty.

I don't know what you're hauling with them, but I almost find that milage hard to believe. During break in, grandpa averaged 14 MPG, and he definatly wasn't babying it.

Now, please don't come over here and try to stir trouble. If you don't like the trucks, as it's pretty obvious you don't, stay out of the fourm that is dedicated to them. Thanks and have a good day...
