Does the DPF filter ever need to be changed?

Just wondering if anyone knows if the DPF filter in the 6.4 ever has to be changed? A friend of mine told me it does every 10,000 miles, which i disagreed with. I don't remember reading about that in the owners manual. Can anyone shed some light on this topic for me? If it does need to be changed, how much is it?

It doesn't need to be changed unless there is a problem with it.....I am sure they are expensive.

nope, doesn't need to be changed unless something goes wrong, but if it does, if you warranty doesn't take care of it be ready to shell out some cash, I don't know if ford has a different deal but Dodge's are around 2500 bucks

I'm pretty sure that it has to get cleaned at a certain number of miles...maybe 50,000 and then at 100,000 something it has to be replaced, but I could be wrong.

Well, thanks guys I guess I will inquire with my dealer how much it is to clean and see if the thing goes bad before the warranty is up, if it is covered.

The owners manual says it needs to be changed at every 400,000 kms or 248,000 miles in the U.S. It can be changed out with a reconditiond one from Ford to save money. A new one in Canada goes for 3600
