Truck Idle

When I start my truck on a cold morning 30 degrees or cooler, after a minuite the truck goes into a high idle. This is every cold morning. This just started since the cold weather came to my town. My truck goes through regen every now and then. I can tell when it regens.............Anybody else?

My 2000, 7.3 does that when its below 40*. Just helps it warm up and idle smoother.

It's in the diesel "supplement" that came with your owners manual. Just the idle kicker for warmup, as already mentioned. I think it said something like after 120 seconds it kicks in... dont quote me, I just remember something listed in seconds, over 60.

It's an ECM program feature called CAP, cold ambient protection. It is use to keep the oil and coolant temps up.
