You probably have a defective DPF filter... I would take it into your dealer...

Don't take it in. I've heard that they do less regens if they are cracked.

was going down the hwy at about 60, looked in the mirror and puffs of blue smoke was coming out. Yeah before some say was it your truck, only one around. Anyway went on for a mile or so. Tried asking on another forum, only got one good reply that a dealer told them the truck was probably going into regen. Other comments were useless.

I agree w/ this^^

I'm 2007 and up CAT ACERT certified, not trying to blow my own horn...Just saying I'm pretty well educated on DPF's and how these new 2007+ systems work and try to point you in right direction.

Thats most likely right about going into regen. It has happend to me twice now. Blows blue smoke for a mile or sometimes a little more. Smokes quite a bit actually. I was surprised. I called the dealer about it too. They say its normal.

I had the exact same problem on mine. People said that it was a cracked dpf, wasn't. Just so happens that there was a new tune out for my truck JOB1 build, and now no smoke. I honestly kind of miss it but figured in the long run it was better for the truck. BTW no charge at the shop. I didn't take it to where i bought it ( idiots ) but to a dealer/shop that specialized in the trucks including the chassis/cabs, sterling, and others.
