need help!!!!...knocking motor??

i havnt been driven my truck in about a week now...so its 11 at night and i need to go get fuel for it because i am leaving early tomorrow and it says i have 20 miles till empty. When i put it away it ran like it always does with no problems at all! So i go out there and it wont start. it turns over like normal but just wont fire up, so i leave the key on for about 1 min. before starting and then it starts right up, i let it warm up for about 5 min then put it in gear and it makes a knocking noise and the motor cuts out. it wasnt very loud but it wasnt somthing you could miss. so i put it back in park and go to start it again and it makes that noise again. I need help people...whats wrong with her?

You might have ran your truck too low on fuel. Don't believe the lie-o-meter. 20 miles till empty is awful low on fuel. Hope you get it started.

Open your coolant reservoir and visually check the level, Is the knocking coming from the passenger side rear of the motor area. I hope not, I'm waiting on my third motor right now.
