pro's con's

I am thinking about getting a new truck and want to know all the pros and cons of all the new trucks. I am going to make this thread on all three forums (ford, dodge, gm).

I am basically wanting to know about the issues that have been common with the new trucks and real world MPG. I do know more about the dodge's and ford's than the gms.

Dodge: 17+ mpg can be had, DPF get clogged up from idling...
Ford: a ton of 12/13 MPG trucks out there, radiator problems...
GM: ?

Those are the types of things I am looking for. If you want say what you think is great about each or bad about each.

Well, need a little more information! Are you talking about a F250, F350, or F450? Two wheel drive or four wheel drive. Single or dually, and which rear-end? As far as the truck, we have two and both are great, and running the Spartan tunes. Almost 16,000 miles on the dually and the best mileage I've been able to get so far is 14.9 running between 60-63. That's with a 4.10 rear-end. The other truck is two wheel drive with less than 2000 miles. Haven't checked the mileage on it. No problems at all so far!!!! I would have to say that these are the nicest truck we have ever owned.

Ive got a job1 truck I bought April 2007 with 30k miles and the only warranty work Ive had done is a leaking shock on front that I had replaced. I bought the venturi hose kit and installed it. I havent had radiator issues yet. Fuel mileage is up thanks to Spartan. Over all I would buy this truck again, again, and again. Quality of this truck is way better than Dodge and I would say the new Chevy is a better built truck than it was 5 years ago. If I didnt buy this truck I would proly buy a chevy...

I can say that the 08 Ford over the 06 Ford is night and day. Super quiet, smoother power, smoother ride, interior style, excellent powertrain, and the seats! Awesome truck. After my 06 problems I swore I would never buy another Ford, but I wanted a truck that would haul something without air bags and there was no other option. Ford did a great job with this truck and I hope they don't screw it up with the new Scorpion.

Well, I can tell you that the 08-09 ford superduty's are very nice trucks. I have an 08 250 lariat and love it. Biggest problem I had was a ticking noise which happens after every oil change for the first couple hundred miles. Ford says not a big deal and its normal? Otherwise the truck is comfortable roomy, quiet and draws a lot of positive comments. I would buy another and may buy mine when the lease is due up. Good luck. I heard dodges have some problems with the transmissions, and their dpf system. Gm's I'm not too sure about because I don't know anyone who has a new one. I know the duramax motor is a beast though.
