Oil Leak Help

I had my truck parked for about 4 months will overseas, no one started it while I was deployed. I noticed two puddles of oil about the size of a quarter of the floor when I moved it. It looks like it is leaking at the rear of the engine above and behind the oil pan.
Is it normal for it to happen due to sitting? It never did that prior and I changed the oil the day before I deployed and it was dry as a bone.Any advice would be great, I don't want to have to return to stock to "get it looked at".
Also we are heading out on a vacation with the fifth wheel next week, can this become drastically worse? Will checking the oil each morning get me through if it continues?
Thanks

First off, I doubt anyone here has been able to go four months without driving their truck. That has to be a forced separation.

Second, if you had the oil serviced, there is a chance it took a bit for anything spilled during servicing to make it's way to the ground. You'd be surprised how long a little oil spill can look like a leak.

Third, two puddles the size of quarters is PROBABLY nothing to worry about. I would definintely keep an eye on the oil during your trip, but I'm not aware of any issues related to an oil leak where you indicated.

Finally, welcome home, and thank you for your service.

Thanks for the reply. I went and looked again to see where it looks like it is coming from and it looks like the cast meatal piece the oil pan bolts to. I changed my own oil and I didn't spill any during the refill. I just do not want to destroy a family trip to disney with a broke $50K truck that has one job...pull that fifth wheel.
Even if it was stock I would not take it in to the dealer because they would never have it done in time for our friday departure!
Thanks again,
Mike

Search the threads. Someone had a small oil leak too from the same spot as you are mentioning. I dont believe it turned out to be a major problem.

Welcome home.

Same here. I had it seeping from the exact area you are referring to. The dealer wiped it clean added a dye and found nothing. It is starting to build up again in the same area but I'm not too concerned.

Looks like a pan gasket has a little leak. Nothing to worry about. They should fix it next service.

It is coming from above the pan. The cast piece that the pan bolts to is where it looks like it is coming from. I can't get the camera to focus up in the confined space though.
If it is a rear seal can that develope into a complete failure all of the sudden? Can I get a 2 week trip (1500 miles) out of it?
thanks

My 6.0l does the same thing. The dealer replaced the hot side boot once and it was still there. They have never been able to find it. I think there idiots. That small of a leak, I wouldn't worry about it.

Welcome back, have fun on the trip and thanks for the service.
