New coolant reservoir

Had to bring my truck into ford for a new radiator (2nd time) it was also blowing white smoke and had water in the oil. They had to replace the cover that seperates the water pump from the engine. I guess if air gets in the system it causes the pump to cavitate and eats through the cover. They replaced everything and when I got it back it had a new coolant reservoir, there is only 1 nipple that goes to the line that has the venturi "T" and then to the EGR valve. Also the fill line is lower.

Looks like they know they have a huge problem and thier trying to fix it with out doing a proper recall! I wonder did they change you over to the new EGR valve. Think you could take a pic of the EGR valve?

No new EGR valve the coolant line still runs through it.

Interesting. That is where my coolant level sits all of the time on my truck. Will see if we get a letter from Ford.

Looks like Ford expects a little “expansion”. If that was the low water mark with the old bottle, then how could the system work when it’s the new high water mark? Remember don't overfill your system.

It was built in January of 08 its a job 2, I had the radiator replaced once @ 13,000 miles. The radiator started leaking again @ 32,000 I diddnt take it in because I had just put the delete pipe on the week before. I drove it adding water as needed until 46,000 then it started getting worse one day getting on the freeway it blew a bunch of white smoke out the tail pipe and was running really funny. I put the dpf back on when I got home drove to work the next morning and was going to have the mechanic do an oil change before I took it in. I pulled the dip stick and the oil was milky so it went straight to ford. Because it got air in the coolant system it caused the water pump to cavitate and eat through the cover and got water in the oil.

Well I just noticed I have a leak down the back side of my radiator on the drivers side. I guess it is going in. Venturi T is installed. I guess the only silver lining is it happened 2 weeks before I leave for Oregon.

Just looked at my reservoir and it was 1/2 inch from the cap? I huess this is the reason for the new bottle design
