I am close to getting to change my fule filters. The dealer gave my the $300ish price. He said that they have to drain the high pressure fule line and most of the cost is laber. Anyway I was under the impression that the one on the yop of the motor was a drop in. And the one in the water seperator (on frame rail) is simalar to the ones I have changed for years on gas trucks ans cars. So am i wrong and if so any help so i can do this myselfe will be apecated.:

They both are catridge style drop in filters. Crack the lid open on the engine mounted filter and open the drain vavle on the frame rail mounted filter housing and let drain and change filters. Torque filter caps back to specs listed on the caps to avoid cracking them due to over tightning them. You will need a 36mm socket I beleive. Here is a link to a good place to buy the fuel filters. http://www.dieselfiltersonline.com/F...s-Fd-4609.aspx You can use these or the the Racors. When you get done cycle the key to the on position 4 or 5 times for 30 seconds or so each time but do not start to purge the system and you should be good to go.

I don't know where your dealer gets 300 bucks. Mine charges 112, unless I am already getting an oil change, then its just parts. If you do want to do it yourself, I agree...go to dieselfiltersonline.com

You may want to open the top fuel filter first. Sometimes it will siphon from the tank if you do the fuel separater first.

theyre BOTH cartridge filters...NO fuel lines have to be drained (your 08
water separator has a valve/switch on it for draining)...

if you spend 30 minutes draining the water-separator and changing
the TWO filters youre DRINKING too much BEER <while working> !

drain the water separator
change both filters (and o-rings)
cycle the key 4 or 6 times w/OUT starting the engine (listen til you hear the pump stop)
and then START the truck <done> !

the 2008+ water separator is improved (no longer has the "brass plug") for draining,
the procedure is basically the same as shown here ->
