Out of fuel

So my wife ran her 08 f-450 outta fuel. It wont start, I am familiar with diesel as I own a 01 ctd and 83 mercedes diesel. I know how to bleed those etc work on them. But looking at this truck is like french to me I have zero experience with powerstrokes at all. So basically do I try to bleed it and if so how? Or take it to the dealer?

Read the manual and it will tell you what to do. Turn the key on a few times and there is a button on the pass side door jam (I think) that you push to purge the line. Like I said the manual says I know.

By the way did you just say my WIFES F-450!

Cycle the key about 10-15 times to prime the pump and crank it it should start up after a few secs.

Lesson #1. Don't ever run a diesel out of fuel! Lesson #2 Same as #1.

I agree cycle key and count to five on each key on cycle at least 20 times. Try to start and do another 20 or more and try to start again.

2008 F450 6.4 diesel dually loaded.

There's a schrader valve on the fuel cooler to bleed the air out. You can run a plastic line off it into a pail / cup / whatever and bleed it at that point.

Cycle the key for 20 seconds at a time, this is the length of time the fuel pump is commanded on.Do this for 5-15 times, hopefully the engine will then start. The dealer has a bleed hose that goes in place of the rear bango bolt on the fuel cooler to bleed the air from the high pressure side of the fuel system.
