Core charge????

How come ther is always a core charge with some vendors on here. i mean u pay 2000 dollars for upgraded turbos and then u got to turn around and send the stock ones back, and they are upgrading the stock ones and selling them, so they are actually doubling ther money. I just feel like if you pay thousands of dollars for something that ur buying it out right, im used to drag racing mustangs and never really had to pay a core charge on anything.

I quess when ur the only company making the parts you can sell them for what you want and not by the market value. I really dont have a problem with the pricing i just dont like all the core charges. I quess i need to win the lottery or get a 2nd job if i want to start upgrading the motor. Wonder how much the better fuel pumps will be, im quessing around 3k. Like i said they have to make money too, im not complaining just stating how i feel, cause i will end up buying all that stuff anyways, just wish ther were more companys makn products for the 6.4

Depending on the Turbo you buy there can be a core. Look at the upgraded VGT's for the 6.0L. They bring the core in and modify it and rebuild it. If they had to buy brand new to start the price would be even higher. You can also buy brand new Turbos with no core, but many go for a at least a couple grand. Look around and you will see. They aren't cheap. Chris

Core charge is nothign new. Any rebuildable part in the automotive industry carries a core charge other than when buying a new unit. The reason for a core charge is simple. We go out and buy two turbos to modify. Then we sell them to a customer. Now what do we do to modify two more turbos??? Well in a perfect world we wait for the customer to send back the cores, except this world isn't perfect and most people wont send back the turbos unless they have money invested. Otherwise what incentive do they have to return the core turbos? So unfortunately dishonest people have created the core charge policy. Another thing is when we get a core turbo in we can't just put wheels in it otherwise it may not live so we have to do a full rebuild. So that is where the cost comes in. To skip the core charge, send in your turbos first. Problem solved.
