I have 37 x 13.50 mud terrains with rims that have 5" backspacing, and mine don't rub on the stock control arms. You should be fine.

'10 F350, CCLB, SRW, 4x4, 6 speed, 2.5" AutoSpring front leveling pucks, 37 x 13.50 x 18 Toyo's, 18 x 9 XD Diesel's, Road Armors front/rear

sorry, should have mentioned that. im running a 8inch fabtech, plenty of clearance, but my tires hit the control arms at sharp turning and rub. i think i could probably run a small 40, im not close on front to back clearance.....

You will be fine with the rims, 40's will be cutting it close, 38's would be better.
