I'm not sure there is much you can do with the MB 4-cylinder to help it out power-wise. The best thing I can think of is to transplant a 5-cyl. turbo engine (readily available) into it.

For more info, try this site: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/...splay.php?f=15

The folks there can answer most any question about Mercedes diesels.

Syöttöruuvi=fuel screw. Open it to get more fuel.
Maksimikierrokset=Max rpm. Turn in to get more rpm. They can take easily 6500-7000rpm.
Tyhjäkäynnin säätö=Idle rpm. Open to lower, turn in to raise rpm. When you turn out the fuel screw the idle rpm usually raises so you need to lower it from this screw.
Top screw is idle fine tuning, you don't need to touch it.

You can also advance the timing a couple of degrees to get a few more HP and less smoke, especially at higher rpm.

Open these 3 bolts and 1 on the other end of the pump to adjust timing.
