Charge cooler inlet restriction?

Guys,

I was looking at the Golf the other day and it seems like the duct going into the charge cooler is mighty small... Kind of like the crack attachment on my vacuum cleaner.

I realize it has to be flat to clear the tire when the wheel turns but has anybody tried to enlarge it top to bottom? Seems like a big restriction... :shrug:

I just looked at mine... No restriction... must be a golf thing?

I'll try to take a picture... I figured the Jetta would be similar but I think the '06's are next gen while the early '06 Golf's were the previous...
