2006 diesel benz question

The car was driven through a flooded area in the street and sucked water into the intake and stalled out, would not restart. after flushing all the fluids the car makes a knocking sound. any idea how serious this is? Any troubleshooting or simple fix ideas would be great.
Thanks

worst case scenario is that you could of sucked in a rock or something and it's knocking around in the crankcase or something.

worse case...you sucked water into the intake and perhaps bent a rod or valve before the car stalled. That would cause it to knock.

You might have gotten water in the fuel or in the oil. I hope those were including in your complete fluid flush...along with changing filters.

The car only knocks at idle, it goes away when you accelerate.

That sounds like a broken piston skirt, I have seen that a few times on MB auto engines.
