Cool Mercedes Benz High Mileage Award

Mercedes gives these out free. It would be cool if all of the companies did this for their vehicles.

Since the car is German the awards are as follows

250,000 kilometers (155,000 miles)
500,000 kilometers (312,000 miles)
750,000 kilometers (466,000 miles)
1,000,000 kilometers (625,000 miles)
1,000,000 miles

I'm 82,000 miles from the 500,000KM award

26yrs to 300,000mi?

It took me 3yrs in my last SD to hit 240,000mi.

What do you do with all your spare time?

An award would be interesting, but it'd have to start at 1M, or it would take too much paper.

I'm the third owner of the car. It was owned by a little old guy until 92. He died and the couple bought it with 40K on the car. I bought it this year with 227,900. In the 4 months I've owned it I've put on about 3500 miles on it. So I'm looking at about 10,500 per year.

Love maintaining vehicles that are easy to maintain. 200K miles is easy on toyotas. But I'm bidding on a 4th vehicle.. a 91 Mercedes 300D which is in pristine shape... but 218k miles.

My bid may be low, but I'll take it at 5k if I can.

We shall see just how good these vehicles are. Timing chain good, interference engines.... not good.

But I like the car.

So how does one get his award. I have an '84 300D with 312,631 miles on it.

Btw, is the black on your grill and plastic covering the lamps come that way stock? Mine are clear, and the grill is a grey plastic. I'd been thinking the black looks better than my version.

I'd appreciate any info or insight you can provide on the new MB diesels., I am up on my E 55 lease and am thinking about an ML Diesel. Insofar as my experience with MB service borders on AWFUL, I can not afford to have issues that require warranty work or RM I cant do myself.

MB diesels were IDI up until 1999.

The ONLY diesel I can think of to stay away from are the 3.5L I-6 that was userd from 1990 through 1994. That had bad connecting rods in quite a few of them that would cause the ovaling out of the cylinders. There is no easy way to tell which of the 3.5's were good and which were bad from the outside. So it is best just to stay away from them in general.

The newer Diesel Mercedes cars are all common rail. The ML320CDI is a peppy engine with more torque than the 5.0 gas ML500. I haven't heard any exerience good or bad on the new diesels. I'm more involved with the older classic Mercedes with a diesel.

Worm Drowner gave you the link to hunt down the PDF application on. Just fill out most of it and take it to a Local MB dealer to have them verify the odometer reading. A Notary can also be used if you don't have an MB Dealer in the area.

At 312,000+ miles fill out 2 of them and get both your 250,000KM and 500,000 KM awards.

My grill and headlight doors were blacked out by me. I used some flate black high heat resistant Rustoleum i had in my garage. If you click the Mercedes Link in my signature, you will see how it looked when I got it.
