Mercedes Diesel

Hey all,

For those of you familiar with MD's...what do you think it would take to get this car back on the road? It really really has my interest piqued.

~Dave~

2012 F350 KR Dually, stock...bone stock.

early 99 PSD CC F250, DP Tuner F-5, Stealth Stage I, Casserly 160cc singles, Monsterbox Tranny, MBRP cool duals, ITP Regulated fuel system, Cobalts and Performax gauges, and way to much else to remember right now. **traded**

2004 Excursion Limited 6.0L, Dipricol gauges on the A-Pillar, Bilsteins and BFG's on the corners, lost EGR (not looking hard for it either), ARP studs, RCD Black Onyx head gaskets, MBRP 4" exhaust, (labor performed by Dan @ Midwest Transmission) **giggled when traded**

dave....

my thoughts <and somewhat painful costly experiance>...no bs here...
it would be worth it to pay someone to look over this car...compression test
would be needed and an assessment of the injectors & injection pump would
be EXTREMELY important.

the bottom line is that PARTS are EXPENSIVE...so even if you can do the work
yourself itll be expensive and obtaining parts can be problematic.

this is the 1st year of the 190 i believe but i cant prove that.

my 300c(d) is a "w123" body...and it was by far the most popular model.
the w123 ran until 1985.

the 190 was refered to as "the baby benz" i thought production began in 85
but im that may not be the case...my concern would be for 1st model year issues.

the craigslist advert. does NOT MENTION MILEAGE on the CAR.
what is the engine size (2.0 or 2.5, turbo d or non turbo)

the low power could be simple clogged filters, who knows.

review this wiki page - to determine what class and production years,
the begin searching on that.(w201)

Yeah...it looks tempting. I just don't want to drop another $1500 into a $500 car.

Try

this site: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/...splay.php?f=15

It's all about Mercedes diesels & is chock full of good info on these cars if you can take time to look through some of the back posts. Use the search function for more details.

I have owned a 1987 300 d turbo for about a year and a half. This site has helped me tremendously to cope with the few problems I've had with mine. It's a good place to start if you're interested in a Benz.

If you find a good one, I don't think you will be disappointed. Good Luck!!

More info...the car has around 190k on it...and is a non-turbo inline 4 cyl. I have asked for more pictures of the interior...motor...engine compartment...underside...the whole thing. If I can snag this for $300...and can't get it to work...I should be able to part it out for that much.

i agree the parts alone, just in the tail lights/turnsignals & headlights will bring you morn
than 300 bucks. (a factory new tail light LENS for my w124 is 165 bucks)

ebay and some specialized "web retailers" are a god send for these cars.
