2004 Jetta TDI upgrades

Ok, I'm looking for opinions one what kind (and who makes them) of upgrades are avaliable for my 2004 TDI. Mine has 82K+ miles and is 100% stock. I'm mostly looking for better fuel economy but any advice (mileage or performance) is welcome.

Not to lead you away from here, but you may want to check out the forums at TDIClub. There is an amazing amount of knowledge over there. Chris

I'm a little more country than that...

x2 on TDIClub, but take a grain of salt with the suggestions that you have a "guru" do all the work on your TDI. If you're reasonably mechanically adept, you can do most or all mods & repairs yourself.

I was most impressed with the reflashed ECU courtesy of a downloader from KermaTDI, it really woke mine up. Of course it caused me to need a new clutch before too long, so I upgraded to a Der Chimera Stage II clutch. Someday I will add injector nozzles too, but I'm happy for now.

Regards,
Michael Pliska

ditto's on the TDI club site...
If you can , go to a TDI GTG , you can pu a lot of "free" knowledge that often is not shared on-line....also you can work on your car supervised by a "guru" as mentioned earlier...
you will also meet a lot of good vendors and people ...

I also have an 04 PD TDI ...
suggest you get over and find out about your lift pump , the ceramic glow plug recall ( VW demands a reflash to the computer thereby wiping off your programming) ...a few other minor things mainly MAF issues etc...

Yes you can work on your own car but a little "guru" help will save you a lot of $$$$$...ask me how I know

Good point on the advice. I made it to the Portland TDI GTG last year, and was able to pick some brains on my planned projects. The gurus in attendance were more than willing to give advice to the DIY'er.
