Here's a stupid TDI question

After 40+K I just realized my car has never high cold idled. Since when does turbo diesel not cold idle?

Mine is older then yours and it doesn't have that. From what I understand it is not in the VW programming. :shrug:

VW's must not have the problem the PSD's do with wet stacking.

How does this make any freaking sense? Even when my car was 100% I had injector cackle that I had to burp out with some throttle.

I have a 96 Passat TDi conversion in an 83 Rabbit. 1 degree F got my high idle to kick, or, if you want to test it, unplug the coolant temp sensor and let the glow plugs cycle. Fire the engine, and you will have high idle. Don't run for long with the sensor unhooked, as you will then need to reset the check engine light... VW sets their glow plugs to come on at a rediculously low temp (38-42F coolant temp) and the high idle at around 15F (if I remember correctly)
