Kroger: save 40 cents per gallon

Looks like ill be buying <myself> some GIFT CARD/presents at Kroger this year - I always know what to get me

http://www.khou.com/community/blogs/...109941229.html

read the fine print -
  • stop at 34.9 gallons - The 40 off per gallon promotion applies to a single fill-up of 35 gallons or less
  • buy the fuel before jan 31 '11 - redeemable at Kroger fuel centers and participating Shell locations through Jan. 31, 2011
  • mix & match the cards - Gift cards from participating retailers can be mixed and matched to reach the $100 amount. (They do not have to be purchased all in one transaction)

and how much are you saving when you buy 35 gallons at a time now ??

its been talked about before, so i didnt include it here -

you can AVOID having to use 'multiple' points when filling up LARGE amounts (usually $150) of fuel...
take your card and go to the kroger pump "attendant" window/shack & tell 'em your wanna fill up...theyll ask for your card...and
they will keep the pump ON (which will only debit your kroger points by a SINGLE point).

We have a similar program at our Pick and Save grocery store. You get discount points based on what you spend. My wife keeps a running average of Her fuel cost. Last time she was rubbing it in to me. I believe her average cost per gallon was right around 1.70.

yup - fuel is pushing 3 bucks here and just before thanksgiving i topped up
my fuel tanks for our 19hr drive to Virginia - i paid 1.79 per gallon, when the
street price was 2.89 and on our trip the best price i saw was 3.01 !
