What are you wanting to change? I have several 550 controllers.

I want to change the voltage which is presently set at 482V to 460V. I do not have any literature on the procedure.
I know that the Decision Maker 550 controller can communicate with a software but I dont have it.
Any help would be appreciated.

I am not quite following completley. Is the genset actually operating at 482VAC and you want to cut it back to 460VAC? Or are you wanting to adjust the monitor trip points to sense over/undervoltage differing from current settings? Both field excitation, and monitoring are done in the DEC 550 Controller. Do you have a breakdown or conformity list of installed features on the genset? Is it standby, or prime power?

Kohler will not give away their software but it is available through them directly in Sheboygan, MI. You will need the engine serial number, model number, and series number that is located on the tag affixed to the housing enclosing the alternator on the rear of the engine.

The gen set is actually operating at 482V and I want to cut back to 460V.
From my understanding (I may be wrong) this can be done using the keypad without hooking up a laptop to the controller.
I do not have any literature how to do this, if you can give me some instructions I will appreciate it very much.

Now I am following you. I will get you a step by step procedure from the manuals. This is not difficult but you will need to know the password to change the operating parameters if there is not a electrical/mechanical problem in the end bell of the alternator. I think it is menu 13 and most default passwords are four zeros, then cursor through the sub menus. Be certain to check all levels for tolerance as many affect others and they interact as they are based on percentages of operational parameters.

That is exactly what he wants to do but the DEC-550 contoller is where you adjust the engine speed for frequency, and voltage output. You must get into the sub menus to manipulate the parameters. I've never heard of the voltage output Mathura is experiencing, but I've never seen anything destined for use in Guyana and I am making the assumption there is nothing wrong with the set.

The set is currently set at 60Hz (1800rpm) and output volts ia set at 482V 3PH. this is normal setting of some gen sets.

I simply want to lower tbe output voltage to 460V. This can only be done through the controller as indicated by Backslap.

Looking foward for the instructions. Password is 0000.
