low air pressure warning system

Quick question - when was this law implemented? I have an 85 kw900 that just failed dot inspection for not having a low air warning system. If the law was passed after the truck was built, I dont need one. Anyone know the year? Thanks

FWIW, my 81 IH has a low pressure warning buzzer and light.

I would just install one because they are readily available and you will not have to deal with any failed inspections in the future. Cole Hersee has a buzzer #4099 and Haldex has a BE13241 switch. If you do not want to do the buzzer just get a indicator light for the dash, I am sure it has been a long time since they originally initiated the law. This is not like manual slack adjusters and automatic slacks for a example. Depending on each year, make, etc you are using air quite a bit for functionality, especially for your brake system.

Just my 2 cents.
