when you put your foot on the gas the injection pump pumps in more fuel per injection, that's also why they smoke black when you get on them too hard, extra fuel, there's no throttle body on diesel engines. diesels kind of switch the way gas engines work, gas=good to be lean, to a point, diesels=richer means more power, to a point, kind of opposite

You won't find any diesels with a throttle body. The fuel is injected into the cylinder in some form. Many use direst injection, which sprays into a "bowl" in the top of the piston, while indirect injection systems inject the fuel into a precombustion chamber(precup) then ignites and produces power. The older diesels did not have any computer controls at all. As of 1994 on the Fords, electronics have come into play. All powerstroke diesels are electronically controlled as far as injection timing and amount goes. Cummins went electronic on the 24v motors. GM had some electronics on the late 6.5's, and all Duramaxes are full electonic.

The workhorse: 86 F250 6.9 4 speed 4wd 4.10 gears, electric fuel pump
The other workhorse: 92 F350 2wd crew cab, 92 6BT Cummins, NV4500 and GV overdrive unit, 4.10 rear axle
